In cooperation with Anyways, a Belgian provider of web based mobility solutions, we are building a traffic detection model.
Our aim is to identify the position and the class of several transportation types, e.g. trucks, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, … on videos coming from drones or fixed cameras. From these positions, we calculate velocities and movement directions. This information will serve as the base for Anyways’s traffic studies and will ideally help for example to optimise the traffic lights schedules in your area.
The object detection is done by using a custom model. We developed our model based on Facebook’s faster rcnn ( https://arxiv.org/abs/1506.01497).
